Strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions and Local Governance
Strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions, Gram Sabha, Mahila Sabha, Yuva Sabha and community participation in local decision-making.
Local Governance
Strong and participatory local institutions are essential for responsive and accountable grassroots development. Sahbhagi Vikas is working to strengthen the Panchayati Raj Institutions, Gram Sabha, Mahila Sabha, Yuva Sabha and other community-based organizations (CBOs) through awareness, capacity building and facilitation.
The organization is enabling community institutions to identify their problems and development needs, set priorities, plan actions and collectively pursue solutions. Special emphasis is given to strengthening participation of women, youth and community leaders in local decision-making and ensuring that eligible and needy families can access their rightful government entitlements.
Sahbhagi Vikas is also promoting strong coordination and dialogue between the Gram Sabha and Panchayati Raj Institutions, particularly in the preparation and implementation of the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) and in addressing village-level development priorities and requirements. Through regular meetings, interface programmes and linkages with government departments, communities are being supported to communicate their priorities and follow up on solutions.
Through these efforts, Sahbhagi Vikas is contributing towards stronger local institutions, greater community participation, inclusive planning and more responsive, transparent and accountable local governance.
